We were referred by a current client to Mario at Backyard Rotisserie Chicken.  Mario had cooked for the restaurant and others for many years and was able to purchase Backyard Rotisserie Chicken from his boss.

However, he did not own the domain name or website.  He needed to start over with a new domain name, new photos and all new content.  He liked the domain name backyardrotisserie.com and that was available.  I developed the website quickly using WordPress and the Divi theme from Elegant Themes.  We took photos of the delicious food they serve and then enjoyed eating it.  We were careful to update social media links and neighborhood links with the new domain name.  We claimed the Google+ page and pointed that to the new domain also.

We tracked the website using Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and Moz Pro for SEO.  Most new websites start out with an authority of 1, the lowest you can get.  Backyard Rotisserie Chicken was no different and started low – this is an unfortunate side effect of having to obtain a new domain name.  We started tracking keywords such as “backyard rotisserie” and “South Riding takeout”.  We are pleased with the results, as shown in the chart.

Mario is pleased his family owned business is doing well.  The restaurant could move up further in traffic and rankings if they wished by becoming active on Facebook, Trip Advisor, and Yelp.  If they had extra time and personnel, the weekly specials could be posted around lunch or dinner time.
