Issues with the popular Oxygen WordPress theme

Covered Components are high end hidden outlets for custom home builders, art studios and more. This client appreciated the style of the Oxygen theme and the woocommerce support.

Oxygen is very highly rated and updated frequently on themeforest.com. However, we have encountered some issues along the way.

PageSpeed

Oxygen has extensive css files. The cache plugins I typically use did not help improve our PageSpeed score. For this theme, GZip compression is necessary to get the PageSpeed score up.

WooCommerce

Oxygen is not currently compatible with the Min / Max Quantities plugin. It had been working well in September 2014, but with the major wooCommerce upgrade 2.3 and the corresponding Oxygen upgrade it is now broken. Support on this has been apologetic but has not taken action.

Shopping Cart Photos

Support was very helpful here, sending a custom .css solution to an incompatibility in Chrome.

Overall, Oxygen is an attractive and modern theme. If you go ahead with it, be flexible and open to workarounds when you encounter problems.
