This project was interesting because of the quick turnaround needed. The client had collected many textbooks to send to an impoverished African nation. She realized the need to found a nonprofit company to raise funds for the shipment. She needed a website in a week – complete with the ability to donate money and offer registrations for her event.
Here are the tasks the client had already initiated:
- filed paperwork to register as a nonprofit
- opened bank account as a nonprofit
- domain name reserved and hosting paid
Together we worked through the preferred look of the site and settled on the eBusiness theme from ElegantThemes. We conference called with goDaddy to get login issues worked out. The client contracted with Acceptiva for donations and ticket sales. Over the next few days, the site grew:
- Email accounts created
- WordPress and theme installed
- Plugins for backup, analytics, spam control installed
- Links for donations posted
- Customization with client’s text and pictures
- Adjustments for client preferences
The project was a success; the client site was up with the necessary links within a week. The client is now promoting upcoming events and accepting donations.
