Fast Theme for Security Systems Website

Barry Hockett has run his Nighthawk Security Systems company for over twenty years. Much of his business is from referrals, so a website was not necessary to generate new business. But referred clients did need his contact info and wanted to research his company online before calling.

I developed a website hosted by GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting. I’m impressed by the speed from this product. It has a built in cache so a caching plugin is not needed. The first byte response time is the best I’ve seen from goDaddy.

We went with the Divi theme from Elegant Themes. It is modern but simple and quick to load. Without any express optimization work, we are getting 65 on mobile PageSpeed tests and 80 on the PageSpeed for desktops.

Of course Divi is responsive and looks good on cell phones without any custom css coding. Mobile friendly websites are important to google rankings, so they are important to us! Google Webmaster Tools reports no mobile usability issues. We score 100/100 on the PageSpeed Mobile User Experience.

The Divi Page Builder is more basic than some and much less quirky. I would rather have fewer options that work than fancier elements that are not debugged yet.

We are using only posts and pages at this time, but could highlight individual installations using the Projects custom post type.

I highly recommend Divi as a fast and flexible WordPress theme for small businesses.
